Geocaching with Outfit Moray

Outfit Moray has a series of local ‘caches’ which are aimed at families and young people.  Our geocaches are generally medium sized, clip lock storage containers and are straight-forward finds.

For those who are still a little confused, Geocaching is a the art of treasure hunting using GPS co-ordinates and cunning skills to locate hidden boxes which are often filled with small toys, perfect for keeping your younger walker’s interest piqued throughout the walk.

Geocaching Things to do in Moray with Outdoor learning and adventure Outfit Moray

Geocaching ticks all the boxes for us as it gets adults, young people and children into the outdoors, plus (and here’s the best bit) it’s absolutely free, all you need is your smartphone and a sense of adventure!

If you are already a ‘cacher’ you will know what to do, but for the beginners, read this great Beginner’s Guide or simply head across to the Geocaching homepage and create your account, then follow the instructions to find your first cache.  It’s simple and straight forward and, most importantly, free to use as you can simply download the app to your smartphone.  Be aware though, geocaching is highly addictive and you may find yourself buying a complicated GPS and ‘going pro’ before you know it, although there’s loads of caching that can be done across the world, totally free, just watch out for those ‘muggles’!

In 2018, we were donated a set of caches local to Lossiemouth to set us up and get us going and we are hoping to expand on these and set some further afield, so if you are a cache owner and would like to help us out, please get in touch with Karen on karen.cox@outfitmoray.com, likewise if you have any questions.
If you visit any of our caches, please send photos and we can add them to our geocaching gallery!
