Carter’s Story
As with many of our young trainees, Carter came to us a volunteer in summer 2023 before becoming a trainee in September 2023. After finishing his traineeship in August 2024, Carter now works for us a zero hours instructor and continues to develop his skills and qualifications.
Carter shares his trainee experience below:
At the age of 16 and away to leave fifth year, I was unsure of what career path I wanted to go down. My passion is mountain biking and I spend all of my free time on my bike. I was given the opportunity to volunteer for Outfit Moray over the summer holidays 2023. At this time I would have described myself as quiet and not very confident.
Outfit Moray took me on as a trainee from September 2023 to September 2024. Within this time not only have I found my voice and gained confidence, but I have also gained qualifications in water sports, archery, climbing and mountain biking. The support from Outfit Moray in building my confidence has allowed me to be able to lead groups in various activities and I continue to work with Outfit Moray providing outdoor learning opportunities for all.
