Emergency Paediatric First Aid Course

Book onto one our monthly courses at Moray Sports Centre in Elgin, or email for a bespoke, onsite course for 8 to 12 people at a reduced rate.

WorkSafe Paediatric programmes are deemed suitable for anyone working with children including childminders, child carers, parents, foundation stage staff and play scheme leaders. WorkSafe Paediatric first aid programmes focus on the skills associated with the first aid care of a patient. All skills are broken down into manageable sections known as ‘elements’. Primary skills are delivered as they have the most immediate effect when dealing with a life threatening emergency.

This course has been designed for those who work in a child care environment to offer further first aid training opportunities after the minimum requirement of 12hr paediatric first aid trained staff are in place according to Ofsted (England) guidelines. Please note this course does not meet the requirements set by Ofsted (England) for first aid provision in Early Years setting and cannot be used as a refresher for the 2 day Paediatric First Aid course.

Candidates will learn the skills in the sequence they will be used in a life threatening emergency and also following the same priorities of care as all professional emergency responders. This results in a sequenced learning that aids future skill retention. The focus on these skills will normally be from a child or infant perspective, but will also include treatment for adults. The specific programme syllabus content is listed on the course outline on the next page. This course is designed to meet the requirements of the Emergency PFA course as set out in the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation stage (published by the Department for Education in England).

Course content:

  • Scene Assessment
