Cairngorm to Coast with Outfit Moray

Launched in 2026, Bay to Bay is designed to complement and build on Cairngorm to Coast, Outfit Moray’s biggest fundraising event of the year.

B2B raises vital funds to support one of our Trainee Scholarships. Each scholarship provides a unique, life-changing opportunity for the young person to learn new skills and gain qualifications, while building resilience and self-esteem; empowering them with the confidence to show themselves, and the rest of the world, just what they are capable of. Watch this short video to appreciate the impact of these scholarships.

You can choose to enter with a reduced entry fee and fundraise for Outfit Moray, or sign up for a pay to play place which will also help us raise funds. If you choose to fundraise, we know just how tricky fundraising can be, so have created a fundraising portal here, which is full of great hints and tips, including our online fundraising guide, plus a sponsorship form. Our event organiser, Karen Darke, is also available for help and support.

The Route

First and foremost, Bay to Bay is a challenge event, and part of that challenge is navigation, so this is NOT a fully signposted event. Apart from signposting important route detail such as road crossings, there will be no signposts between checkpoints as part of the challenge is your navigation in this ‘score’ style orienteering event.

IMPORTANT: Please adopt a ‘leave no trace’ approach with zero littering. You are walking, running and biking through spectacular countryside and must to abide by the Scottish Outdoor Access Code at all times along the entire route.

Transition Venues Information:

Culbin Forest loop participants: There is a choice when you enter to book the water-taxi across from Findhorn to Culbin Forest, adding approximately 18km extra and another beautiful forest to your run or bike. If you have chosen this option, please pass through the Findhorn village centre checkpoint and continue to the water-taxi departure point.

Outfit Moray: Opportunity to charge e-bikes, plus food and drinks.

Findhorn Village Centre (event control and finish): Medals and refreshments for all participants. There will be toilet facilities, somewhere warm to get changed, an opportunity to charge e-bikes, plus hot food and drinks. When making travel choices, please remember there is no return transport from Findhorn.

Any participant bags for left for collection at Findhorn Village Centre should be labelled with your name and participant number.

Toilets: Spey Bay Dolphin Centre, Outfit Moray, Hopeman beach, Burghead harbour, Roseisle Forest car park, Findhorn Village Centre.

Accessible Toilets: Spey Bay Dolphin Centre, Station Park in Lossiemouth, Burghead harbour, Roseisle Forest car park

Other than that, it’s natural breaks and we would ask you to take particular note of the following SOAC information:

If you need to urinate, do so at least 30 metres from open water or rivers and streams. If you need to defecate, do so as far away as possible from buildings, from open water or rivers and streams, and from any farm animals. Bury faeces in a shallow hole and replace the turf.

A GPX file of the approximate route will be available nearer the event (only the ‘spine’ of the route, as you will be diverting to orienteering markers to collect points) and printed maps will be available on the day.

SCORE ORIENTEERING / THE ROUTE
A score-style orienteering event is a challenge where participants navigate to as many checkpoints as possible within a set time limit, rather than following a fixed route. Each checkpoint is worth a different number of points depending on difficulty and distance. Participants choose their own strategy and route to maximise their score before returning to the finish on time (late returns usually result in penalty points).

In run and mountain bike score orienteering, this adds an extra layer of adventure, combining navigation, endurance, and smart decision-making across varied terrain.
