Leading First Aid for Mental Health Training Course

This Leading First Aid for Mental Health training course builds on the 1-day First Aid for Mental Health and covers a wider range of mental health conditions and goes into detail on the range of therapy and professional support that a person may be given by professional bodies during treatment for a mental health condition.

The course is suitable for all persons within a workplace, but is aimed at those who have responsibility for implementing a positive mental health culture and responsibility for First Aid for Mental Health within an organisation.

  • Identifying mental health conditions
  • Self-harm
  • Providing advice and starting a conversation

  • Mental health conditions
  • Personality disorders
  • Drugs and alcohol
  • Bipolar disorder
  • First Aid for Mental Health action plan
  • Psychosis
  • First Aid for Mental Health in the workplace
  • Schizophrenia
  • Depression
  • Anxiety

Duration: A minimum of 12hrs spread over at least two days. Ideally, the course should be run over two consecutive days, but must be completed within 6 weeks of starting the course, with each training session a minimum of two hours.

Numbers: max 16 students
Age: 14+

Assessment: A range of methods are used, including practical and questioning (open and multiple-choice).

Certification: A Level 3 Award in Supervising First Aid for Mental Health will be issued to the learner, subject to successful assessment. This qualification is valid for three years from the date of achievement.

Please note: learners will need to complete the full course again to requalify for a further three years and it is strongly recommended they attend annual refresher training.
