Morgane’s Story
Morgane first joined us a volunteer in 2022, aged 21, and was offered a place as a trainee not long after. Like many of our trainees, Morgane remained on staff for a period of time following the end of her traineeship, before heading off to South Wales as a white water rafting instructor, where she continues to work to this day.
Morgane shares her trainee experience below:
I am Morgane and I am 22 years old. I began volunteering at Outfit Moray in February 2022 and was offered the trainee position soon after. I was drawn to Outfit Moray as a work experience opportunity but found a passion for the outdoors and they helped me to achieve in ways I had never had in school.
During the traineeship I gained several qualifications in different activities and made connections that lead me to work abroad and find my current job in North Wales as an outdoor instructor. When I arrived at Outfit MorayI had a turbulent life, I had financial struggles and no permanent address.
During my traineeship, I became homeless and Outfit Moray assisted me with getting on the housing register and housed me temporarily. Without the position and support from Outfit Moray I doubt I would have had the confidence to be where I am now, or have excelled in my career.
I continue to develop and gain more qualifications and aspire to encourage others into the outdoors.
